How to Blanch Almonds

Fresh Blanched Almonds can be very useful in healthy recipes!
Blanching is the process of removing the skin from the nut, which is
great for making a gluten free flour substitute!

Ingredients:

- unsalted raw almonds

Directions:

- bring a large pot of water to a rapid boil
- pour in the raw almonds, ensure the almonds are completely covered in water

- allow the almonds to boil for exactly 60 seconds. The almonds will become soft if they are in the water too long.
- strain the almonds and rinse in cold water

- dump the almonds over a clean cloth, dab them dry (you will already notice the skins are wrinkled and starting to come loose)

- using your fingers, slide or pinch off all the skins from the almonds. This can be dangerous as the almonds can go flying! Shield them with your other hand to prevent losing them on the floor.

- spread out the now skinless almonds and leave them to dry at room temperature
